What Are You Reintegrating?
We begin the school year early in Moab, so today is Day 4 of being back in the school routine. I am wildly grateful! I appreciate the quiet time to focus and less responsibility. It feels like a crazy thing to say out loud and admit outside of my intimate relationships. When I can turn the "on call" and "ready" part of my brain off it gives my nervous system a chance to rest and it inspires me to create, which supports me in generating presence with more ease. This is one of the reasons I still practice and teach yoga.
I teach yoga because I believe our practices can support the challenge of being a human. We share a connection in navigating the many choices we each make daily that form our lives. I want to offer you a space to practice in a way that allows your nervous system to rest and recharge so that you feel more grounded and connected when meeting these choices.
I believe strongly that our yoga and meditation practice is a place to play, explore, accept and connect with ourselves. We take this off our mats when we invite more presence into our relationships through the same attention: play, curiosity, acceptance and connection.
We've entered the season of integration, the polishing that happens through practice. We are polishing not for a perfect shine, but for the ability to see clearly. What we see is our own reflection, not the eyes looking back from the mirror, but the eyes looking back from our soul. Are we being who we want to be? Are we being who we say we are? If not, what are we going to do about it? Remember, Yoga isn't about fixing our lives, it is about yoking our bodies and minds so that our choices are in alignment with our soul.
This fall, I look forward to being back in the studio weekly. Jessie is teaching this Wednesday, August 26th and I heard she has a great class planned! I also have one more workshop from the summer series this coming Sunday, August 30th. Details of both are below.
Weekly Yoga Practice
Wednesday 5:15-6:15pm at RIZE in Moab beginning September 2nd
Soul Play is an alignment-based practice with plenty of room for philosophy and play. We will connect spirituality and ancient yoga practices to the modern human experience. This practice invites curiosity and humility so each student can show up and grow at their own pace.
Summer Series Final Workshop
Sunday, August 30th from Noon - 2pm
Reflect and Release
As we move into an earth sign, we reflect on what the fire of creation and destruction inspired. What are we still hanging onto that is ripe for release? Are we providing the necessary nourishment for our intentions? The steadiness of Earth and the abundance of the Goddess Lakshmi will guide our practice of asana and meditation. We will continue with our theme of journaling and enjoying Sundial Medicinals tea.
I always love hearing from you! Are you reintegrating a practice that you lost? Or, is there something new you would like to integrate? I'm a little curious about fly fishing. It seems like it could be loosly related to knitting. That is a practice I had taken a LONG break from and joyfully picked back up this summer.
